Good to know
What is an A record?
It is the address a name points to: the server a browser connects to. A name can have several, and big sites hand out different ones to share the load. An IPv6 address lives in an AAAA record instead.
What is an MX record?
It says which servers receive email for the domain. The lowest number is tried first; the others are backups. A domain with no MX record gets its mail at its A record, if anywhere.
What are NS records?
They name the servers that answer DNS questions for the domain, usually the registrar's or a DNS host such as Cloudflare. They are set at the registrar, and a change can take a day to reach everyone.
What is a TXT record?
Any text a domain publishes. Mostly it proves things: who may send its email (SPF, starting v=spf1), its DMARC policy (at _dmarc. the domain) and that the owner controls it (Google, Microsoft and others ask for a code here).
